Animal Control
SACA is committed to ensuring the safety of our citizens and their pets. We do this in part through our field work, addressing at large complaints and investigating concerns under both the Dangerous Animal bylaw and Animal Control bylaw. Our team of experts work tirelessly to respond to complaints in a timely manner.
Pound services
We provide pound services under contract to The City of Saskatoon. Our staff actively work to return animals directly home. Those whose owners can’t be identified are transported to the animal pound. Our professional team provides safe housing and care within our veterinarian inspected facility. Our facility also houses animals who arrive in our care under the Dangerous Animal Bylaw.
Lost and Found
Our agency manages a comprehensive lost and found program, helping reunite lost pets with their owners. When a lost pet is found, we use every tool at our disposal, including tracing licenses, microchip scanning; using our online databases, to track down the rightful owners. We encourage all pet owners to report missing pets to us as soon as possible.
Pet Adoptions
Following a holding period, animals that can’t be reunited with an owner, will undergo an assessment and adoptable animals will be moved to our adoption center. We provide a pet adoption service that includes a screening process to ensure pets are matched with responsible owners in suitable, loving homes.
Education
We are passionate about educating the public and encouraging responsible pet ownership. We actively work in the community, providing information directly as Bylaw Officers. We also engage in community events actively sharing valuable information about our agency, our duties, and the importance of spaying and neutering of pets.
