Saskatoon Animal Control Agency (SACA) has been actively involved in our community since 2004 providing animal control services to the City of Saskatoon. In this role we work to mediate conflict between neighbors, rescue strays, return lost pets, educate irresponsible owners and attend to concerns regarding aggressive animals. In January of 2024 our role expanded to also provide daily care for those animals found as strays, which are held at the City Pound facility. The Role
Our Bylaw enforcement Officers work within the community, addressing community concerns, processing bylaw infractions and mediating community concerns.Duties and Responsibilities
As a Bylaw enforcement Officer, your responsibilities are covered under The City of Saskatoon Bylaws 7860 -The Animal Control Bylaw and 8176 - The Dangerous Animal Bylaw. As part of the enforcement of these two laws you will be responsible for a multitude of tasks including:- Call receipt, screening and dispatching of incoming calls.
- Responding to bylaw specific concerns and complaints.
- Documenting case file related interactions.
- Court attendance, as applicable.
- Issuing Notices of Violations (citations/tickets).
- Maintenance of animal records and documentation relative to public interactions.
- Animal handling, capture and transfer of animals, both to their respective homes as well as the City Pound.
- Investigation and identification of bylaw infractions.
- Park patrol and bike patrol.
- Education of the population specific to Animal Control and bylaw specific concerns.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring:- Strong communication skills.
- A general knowledge of animal behavior and identification.
- Basic knowledge of computers and data entry.
- A combination of experience demonstrating an ability to handle a fast paced environment, problem solving skills, animal handling or communication skills.
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- An ability to work independently, as a self starter.
- Proof of a valid driver’s license.
- Provision of a clean criminal record check.
Compensation
$19.00 - $24.00 per hour plus potential for on-call wagesSalary Level
